What Happens When We Truly Accept One Another Will Shock 🫨 You

True Acceptance: Breaking Spiritual Strongholds

Romans 15:7 (NIV)
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”

God accepted you, reader—so why would He not accept others? This doesn’t mean we tolerate or encourage sin, but it does mean that we embrace people as souls loved by God. We are all made from the dust, and to the dust we will return (Genesis 3:19). Too often, we forget that our true battle is not against one another but against unseen forces.

We Wrestle Against Spiritual Forces

Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

This doesn’t mean everyone is demon-possessed—but it does mean that spiritual influences are real. Angels and demons interact with our world, influencing thoughts, reactions, and choices. When we reject others, we may actually be fueling these dark influences. But when we accept, forgive, and love, we disarm them.

The Power of Acceptance

By accepting one another, we break strongholds of rejection, bitterness, gossip, jealousy, and other acts of the flesh. Instead, we open the door to the Holy Spirit, planting and harvesting fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23).

Acceptance doesn’t mean condoning sin. Jesus accepted sinners but always called them to repentance. Likewise, we are called to embrace people while pointing them toward the truth in Christ.

Stats That Speak to Our Need

  • Loneliness epidemic: The U.S. Surgeon General declared in 2023 that loneliness is a public health crisis, with 58% of Americans feeling isolated or rejected regularly.
  • Church rejection: Barna Group found that 59% of young adults leave church in part because they feel judged rather than accepted.
  • Mental health: Studies show that social acceptance lowers stress, depression, and anxiety by over 40%, while rejection is a leading trigger for suicidal thoughts.

The Bible has been saying this all along—unity and acceptance bring life. Division and rejection destroy.

Scripture for Unity

  • John 13:34–35 — “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
  • Colossians 3:13–14 — Forgive as the Lord forgave you; love binds everything together.
  • Psalm 133:1 — “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

Final Prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive me for times I have rejected others instead of accepting them as You accepted me. Break every chain of rejection, bitterness, gossip, and jealousy in my life. Fill me with Your Spirit so I may walk in love, patience, and unity. I repent of pride, judgment, and division. Today, I choose to accept and love others for Your glory. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
