Pray it. Practice it. See Clearly.
Big idea: Real discernment grows as you walk with Jesus—pray like Paul, then practice your faith. Over time, God trains your senses to tell light from dark, even when culture “calls evil good and good evil.” Heb 5:14 · Isa 5:20
Why we need discernment now
- Sex & family norms shifted: Majorities now say sex outside marriage is acceptable (≈68%), and having a baby outside marriage (≈67%).[1]
- Cohabitation mainstream: About 7 in 10 say living together is acceptable even if you don’t plan to marry.[2]
- Gambling normalized: By the end of 2024, sports betting was legal in 38 states + D.C.[3]
- Marijuana support at record highs: 70% of Americans favor legalization.[4]
- Sunday “blue laws” faded: Most states loosened once-common Sunday restrictions; many are considered obsolete today.[5]
- From Prohibition to parties: The U.S. banned alcohol nationally (1920–1933) and then repealed it by the 21st Amendment—a massive norms swing.[6]
- Faith habits dropped: Only about 3 in 10 Americans attend services weekly or almost weekly.[7]
Point: Society’s “okay” moves. God’s standard doesn’t. Anchor your life to the Word, not the trendline. 2 Tim 3:16–17 · Ps 119:105

Final Prayer — Repentance, Deliverance, Surrender
Father, I confess where I’ve called good what You call evil, or evil what You call good. Jesus, cleanse me and lead me. Holy Spirit, fill me so that my love abounds in knowledge and depth of insight. Train my senses to discern what is best. Break every chain—pride, lust, greed, anger, and fear. I surrender my habits, my feed, and my future to You. Make me pure and blameless for the day of Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
