Mark 13:9–11 (NIV)
“You must be on your guard… Do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”

We humans feel a deep need to know—to see the plan, the timeline, and the outcome. We refresh our feeds, search for guarantees, and wrestle with “what ifs.” Scripture shifts the focus: not knowing everything, but being led by God’s Spirit.
Why this hits home right now
- Many people report daily stress tied to uncertainty (finances, health, relationships).
- Anxiety and low mood are common when we feel we must control outcomes we can’t control.
- Plenty of faithful, responsible people still feel “stuck”—like running on a treadmill with no finish line.
Trust Over Knowing
“Teach me… lead me…” (Psalm 143:10). That’s surrender and trust. In Mark 13:11, Jesus says not to worry beforehand because the Holy Spirit will supply the words in the moment. God has the wisdom you need when you need it.
A word to the one who feels stuck
If that’s you—you pray, you show up, you work hard—and yet nothing seems to move. Being “stuck” does not mean being forgotten. God often builds roots before fruit. He is leveling the ground beneath your feet (Ps 143:10).
Biblical Solutions for Everyday Struggles
-
Feeling stuck? Ask for today’s step, not tomorrow’s blueprint.
Proverbs 16:9 — We plan; the LORD establishes steps. -
Heavy with worry? Trade worry for worship—pray Scripture out loud.
Philippians 4:6–7 — Pray about everything; God’s peace guards hearts. -
Doing right, seeing little? Measure success by obedience, not outcomes.
Galatians 6:9 — Don’t grow weary; the harvest comes in due time. -
Overthinking the future? Embrace that sometimes “God only knows”—and that’s enough.
Isaiah 55:9 — His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the LORD; He will make paths straight.
Matthew 6:34 — Don’t worry about tomorrow; today has enough trouble. -
Need wisdom in the moment? Ask and receive.
James 1:5 — God gives wisdom generously without finding fault.
Three simple practices this week
Prayer of Repentance, Deliverance & Surrender
Lord Jesus, I confess my need to control what only You know. I repent for trusting my plans more than Your presence. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. Holy Spirit, lead me on level ground. Deliver me from fear, anxiety, and the weight of feeling stuck. I surrender the outcomes and choose obedience today. I declare: even when I don’t understand, God only knows—and that is enough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
