Proverbs 12 (WEB) — Wisdom That Shows Up In Real Life
A brief sermon recap + prayer • UponThisRock.Church
Announcements (Brief)
Welcome to UponThisRock.Church — a church designed for people who need Jesus… just like you.
We’re here to pray for you, too. If you want to join the Prayer Department, we currently have an international WhatsApp prayer group where you can connect with believers from all over the world — give and receive prayer, and share praise. It’s free.
We’re not doing this for money. We’re doing this because Jesus is Lord — and because we want to obey Him.
Today’s Worship Foundation
Romans 12:1 (WEB)
“Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.”
Worship isn’t just singing — it’s surrender. It’s living like Jesus owns us, because He bought us with His blood.
Ephesians 4:4–6 (WEB)
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.”
One Spirit. One Lord. Not a “holiday spirit,” not a “me spirit,” not a “culture spirit.” Only the Holy Spirit.
The “12 / 28 / 28” Moment
Today is month 12, the day is 28, and Proverbs 12 has 28 verses. That’s a reminder for us: God can use anything — even a date — to wake us up and get our attention.
Proverbs 12 — The Big Lessons (Brief)
- Correction is love, not hate. Wisdom accepts instruction; pride rejects it.
- Words reveal the heart. Lying, gossip, and cruelty destroy; truth and kindness heal.
- Work matters to God. Diligence feeds people; laziness starves purpose.
- Righteousness is stability. Wicked shortcuts collapse; God’s ways endure.
- Anxiety is real — and God gives a remedy. “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.” (Proverbs 12:25)
Proverbs isn’t “cute quotes.” It’s God warning us that our choices have consequences — in our homes, our mouths, our money, our integrity, and our future.
A Word For Our Time
We are living in an age where people call evil “good” and truth “hate.” That isn’t new — Proverbs already exposed it. The fruit is everywhere: broken families, addiction, anxiety, confusion, and loneliness — even while people pretend online that everything is fine.
God’s wisdom doesn’t just “sound holy.” It produces life. It produces peace. It produces real strength.
The Final Link: Proverbs 12:28 → Philippians 1:21
Proverbs 12:28 (WEB)
“In the way of righteousness is life; in its path there is no death.”
That doesn’t mean believers never die physically — it means death doesn’t get the final word. Righteousness leads to real life, and Jesus is the only way to it.
Philippians 1:21 (WEB)
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
When Jesus becomes your life, even death becomes gain — because you belong to Him.
Final Prayer — Repentance, Surrender, Deliverance
Father God,
I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ.
I repent for my sin, for pride, for careless words, for laziness, and for living my way instead of Your way.
Wash me and forgive me through the blood of Jesus.
I surrender my mind, my mouth, my habits, my work, my family, and my future to You.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me in truth.
I renounce Satan, every lie, and every stronghold.
In Jesus’ name, I ask for deliverance from fear, anxiety, lust, anger, addiction, confusion, and anything that separates me from You.
Make me wise. Make me faithful. Make me useful for Your Kingdom.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
