Trust the Plan — Even When You Don’t See It

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) • UponThisRock.Church

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Sometimes, life doesn’t make sense. Things fall apart, doors close, and we start to wonder if God’s really paying attention. But Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us of something powerful — God already has a plan. It’s not random, it’s not cruel, and it’s not chaos. It’s intentional, loving, and full of hope.

We don’t always have to understand God’s plan — we just have to trust it. That’s real faith. That’s blind obedience in love. Because the same God who shaped the stars, formed your life with a purpose too.

📈 When We Trust Our Own Plans Too Much

We’re planners by nature. We make schedules, strategies, goals, and dreams — and that’s not bad! But sometimes, we get so confident in our own blueprint that we leave God’s design out of the equation.

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

When we try to control everything, we end up frustrated. Studies from the American Psychological Association show that more than 70% of adults feel constant stress trying to manage life’s uncertainties. Anxiety rises when control becomes our idol — but peace comes when we surrender it back to God.

Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We don’t find peace when we finally understand — we find peace when we finally trust.

🙌 Hypocrites, Strugglers, and Saints — God’s Still Working

If you’ve been hurt by hypocrites who claim God but live like hell — you’re not alone. But listen: hypocrites need guidance too. Jesus didn’t reject them, He corrected them. He said the sick need a doctor — not those who think they’re already perfect.

Mark 2:17 (NIV)
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

If you’re struggling with something that keeps tripping you up — do everything in your power to deny yourself and replace the struggle with prayer. Every time that temptation shows up, hit it back with worship.

Luke 9:23 (NIV)
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

And if you’re a believer who feels like you’ve got it all together — that’s awesome! But remember, your peace was never meant to stay private. Pray and act for those who aren’t where you are yet. Be the example they can follow toward Jesus.

Romans 15:1–2 (NIV)
“We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.”

🌱 Trust Blindly, Walk Boldly

Blind faith isn’t about ignorance — it’s about confidence in the unseen. God doesn’t ask you to see the whole staircase, just to take the next step. Faith is like walking with your eyes closed, but your hand in His.

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

According to a Pew Research Center survey, believers who pray daily and read Scripture at least once a week report 30–40% higher life satisfaction than those who don’t. That’s not luck — that’s fruit from trust. Faith literally changes the brain and the heart.

🙏 Final Prayer of Repentance, Deliverance, and Surrender

Father God, thank You for having a plan even when we don’t understand it. Forgive us for trying to control what only You can see. Deliver us from fear, from pride, from unbelief. Help us to trust You blindly, knowing You hold our future. Heal our hearts, strengthen our faith, and guide our steps. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we surrender everything. Amen.
