Guidance

Acknowledging God in all aspects of our lives allows his will to manifest through us, as seen in Philippians, guiding our focus away from self-driven desires towards actions that fulfill his good pleasure.

Introduction: In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get lost in our plans and pleasures, forgetting whom we truly serve.

1. Rejecting the distractions of self-guidance is the first step to focusing on God’s path.

A. Leviticus 19:31

English Standard Version

31 “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus warns against turning to mediums or necromancers, symbolizing our modern tendencies to seek guidance from everything but God.

B. This act of seeking external validation distracts us from the purity and clarity of God’s way.

2. Trusting in God completely reshapes our understanding and guides our every step.

    A. Proverbs 3:5-6

English Standard Version

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

6 In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.

This passage invites us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.

    B. This trust aligns our desires with God’s, ensuring our focus is not on the transient but on what eternally matters.

3. God enables and motivates us to act according to his will, ensuring our focus aligns with his purpose.

    A. Philippians 2:13 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

What is  revealed is that it is God who works in us to will and to work for his good pleasure.

    B. Acknowledging this divine empowerment encourages us to shift our focus from personal ambitions to God’s higher call.

Conclusion: Focusing on God in every aspect of our lives brings not just clarity but also the joy of walking in his will. Let’s remember to reject the modern necromancers, to trust in God entirely, and to welcome his working within us, guiding our focus towards his good pleasure. This week, challenge yourself to notice where your focus lies—are you seeking guidance from the world, or are you letting God lead your steps?
