Hey everyone, YOUTUBE has been giving us some trouble lately. Make sure you are subscribed and you will be notified when today’s message and last week’s message will be broadcasting live today.
Opening
âToday, we are going to read the entire chapter of Psalm 116. As we go, weâll pause to reflect on how these verses relate to our real lives todayâour struggles, our fears, our joys, and our faith.â
Psalm 116:1â2
âI love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.â
Pause & Reflection:
Have you ever felt like nobody listens? Like your cries just echo into emptiness? Depression, anxiety, regret, or even just the busyness of life can make us feel invisible. But this scripture promises: the Creator of the universe bends down to hear you.
đ Call to Action: Stop holding it in. Start talking to God about everythingâeven your doubts.
Supporting Scripture:
- Philippians 4:6â7 â âDo not be anxious about anything⊠but present your requests to God⊠and the peace of God will guard your hearts.â
Psalm 116:3â4
âThe cords of death entangled me,
the anguish of the grave came over me;
I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
âLord, save me!ââ
Pause & Reflection:
Many today feel âentangledââby addiction, bills, fear, broken relationships. Mental health data shows nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with depression or anxiety each year (NIMH). But David shows us the answer: cry out, âLord, save me!â
đ Call to Action: If youâre caught in something that feels like deathâsubstance abuse, lust, guiltâdonât numb it. Call on Jesus Christ right now.
Supporting Scripture:
- Romans 10:13 â âEveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.â
Psalm 116:5â7
âThe Lord is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
The Lord protects the unwary;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.â
Pause & Reflection:
God isnât waiting to punish youâHeâs waiting to protect and restore you. Many today are restlessâtired, worn out, chasing peace in alcohol, screens, sex, or substances. But peace doesnât come from escape. It comes from resting in Christ.
đ Call to Action: Stop searching for peace in the world. Ask God for the rest your soul needs.
Supporting Scripture:
- Matthew 11:28â30 â âCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you restâŠâ
Psalm 116:8â11
âFor you, Lord, have delivered me from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
I trusted in the Lord when I said,
âI am greatly afflictedâ;
in my alarm I said,
âEveryone is a liar.ââ
Pause & Reflection:
We live in an age of liesâfake news, social media filters, political agendas. Itâs easy to feel deceived or betrayed. But truth still existsâand His name is Jesus Christ.
đ Call to Action: If youâre tired of lies and deception, anchor your life to Godâs Word. Itâs the only truth that doesnât shift.
Supporting Scripture:
- John 14:6 â âI am the way and the truth and the life.â
Psalm 116:12â14
âWhat shall I return to the Lord
for all his goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.â
Pause & Reflection:
Gratitude changes everything. Studies show gratitude improves mental health, lowers stress, and strengthens relationships. How much more when gratitude is directed to God?
đ Call to Action: Instead of focusing on what you lack, thank God for what Heâs already done. Then commit your life to Him.
Supporting Scripture:
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 â âGive thanks in all circumstances; for this is Godâs will for you in Christ Jesus.â
Psalm 116:15â19
âPrecious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful servants.
Truly I am your servant, Lord;
I serve you just as my mother did;
you have freed me from my chains.
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
and call on the name of the Lord.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the house of the Lordâ
in your midst, Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord.â
Pause & Reflection:
We were made for more than chains. Some chains are obviousâdrugs, lust, greed. Others are invisibleâfear, bitterness, trauma, pride. God says: I have freed you from your chains.
đ Call to Action: Stop being a slave to what Jesus already broke. Praise the Lord for freedomâeven before you see it fully.
Supporting Scripture:
- John 8:36 â âSo if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.â
Closing Call
Psalm 116 reminds us that God hears, saves, delivers, restores, and frees. But it all starts with this: call on His name.
Final Prayer of Repentance, Deliverance & Surrender
âFather in Heaven, I repent of my sinsâknown and hidden. I confess my guilt, my shame, my chains. I ask You to forgive me through the blood of Jesus Christ. Deliver me from every trap of the enemyâfear, addiction, lies, and hopelessness. I surrender my whole life to You. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can walk in truth, freedom, and victory. I declare Jesus Christ is Lord of my lifeâtoday and forever. In His mighty name I pray, Amen.â
