The Shocking Reason You’re Still Struggling—It’s Not What You Think

Sow Sin, Reap Death—Sow Spirit, Reap Life: A Mind Reset with Galatians
Scripture Focus: Galatians 5–6
By: Steven Jones II | UponThisRock.Church

🌱 What Field Are You Planting In?

Take a moment.
Look at your life, your thoughts, your time.
What are you planting in your mind?

Are you watering anxiety, blame, comfort sin, entitlement?
Or are you watering joy, peace, self-control—the fruit of the Spirit?

Paul says:

“For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”Galatians 6:8 (scottrossministries.com, Bible Gateway)

That’s not just heavenly talk—it’s gravity.
If your thoughts lean toward worldly perspectives, they’ll pull you down.

🧠 Modern Confusion Is Just Ancient Sin Repackaged

Here’s the reality:

Ultimately—people are digging up the idea that truth is universal.

It feels modern. But really? It’s old as Eden.

“If you sow to the flesh… you reap corruption.”
Galatians 6:8

What kind of harvest are you ready for?

📊 Mental Health Crisis & Serving the Flesh

Consider this:

  • Over 57 million Americans live with mental illness; anxiety affects nearly 20%, depression over 8%. ([USA)** (Answers in Genesis, Grace to You, gotquestions.org, usa.edu)
  • Screen time, identity confusion, entitlement narratives, and fear-based identity correlate with higher anxiety & suicide risk.

World logic says: “Just follow your feelings.”
That’s sowing in the flesh—leading to decay and death.

Spiritual logic says: “Fix your mind on truth and fruit of the Spirit.”

⚖️ No Neutral Ground—You’re Planting in One Field or the Other

Paul is clear: There’s no middle ground.

“There is no neutral—only flesh or Spirit. Choose the Spirit as your goal.” (Bible Read, gotquestions.org, Bible Gateway)

If you’re walked out by bitterness, fed by fear, driven by performance, you’re sowing flesh.

If you’re growing in love, kindness, self-control, you’re sowing Spirit.

🛑 A House Divided Can’t Stand

“Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste… no house divided against itself will stand.”Matthew 12:25

Internal conflict, entitlement, victim mentality—these are weeds in the same garden.
No peace, no clarity, no joy.

🔥 But There Is Hope—And It’s Real

If you sow to the Spirit, you don’t just get eternal life later—you get peace and joy now.

“Those who sow to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.”Galatians 6:8 (gracecorning.org, Bible Gateway)

And:

  • “Walk by the Spirit… live by the Spirit… keep in step with the Spirit… bear fruit of love, joy, peace, gentleness, self-control…”Galatians 5:16, 18, 22–23 (gotquestions.org)

✝️ Choose Today—Change Tomorrow

Ask yourself:

  • What am I sowing daily?
  • Where does my thinking lead—flesh or Spirit?
  • Am I planting anxiety or faith? Blame or peace?
  • Am I producing weeds—or bearing fruit?

Pick your field. The harvest is coming.

“Sow to the Spirit; reap eternal life.”

🙏 Final Prayer of Repentance & Surrender

Father God,
I repent for choosing flesh over Spirit in my thoughts, speech, and time. I confess that I’ve planted weeds of anxiety, entitlement, bitterness, and emotional addiction.

By Your grace, I turn. I commit to sowing to the Spirit: love, peace, self-control, truth. Renew my mind. Restore my clarity. Help me walk daily with You, bearing fruit that lasts.

In Jesus’ name—Amen.
